This one-semester Certificate Program on Fashion Entrepreneurship is designed to equip individuals with foundational business knowledge and creative skills that are necessary to succeed in the dynamic world of fashion. This course combines significant principles of fashion entrepreneurship, fashion branding and fashion retail management to provide a comprehensive grasp of the industry. Through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical application, students will develop a well-rounded understanding that will prepare them for starting or managing their own businesses related to fashion.

COURSE OUTLINE:  

FASHION ENTREPRENEURSHIP
This course is designed as a platform to prepare the entrepreneur in building a business related to fashion and to eventually learn how one can develop this business with the understanding of how a business works (e.g. organizational chart, business legalities, profit and loss forecasts, etc.)

FASHION RETAIL MANAGEMENT
This course is an overview of retailing as part of the Buying Cycle, specifically focused on the system of distributing and showcasing fashion and complementary products and services. Students will learn how to set-up, manage and operate fashion retailing businesses by immersing them with different business functions based on the 7P’s of the retail mix: (1) Product (Merchandise and Brand Management), (2) Price (Retail Pricing), (3) Promotions (Retail Communication Mix); (4) Place (Channel Selection including Physical and Digital Distribution Points), (5) Processes (Store Operations and Back-End Support Systems), (6) People (Human Resource Management and Customer Service) and (7) Physical Evidence (Store Design, Visual Merchandising and Brand Touchpoints). Its overarching framework is critical strategic decision-making focusing on key issues such as selection of target markets, developing sustainable comparative advantage, and building an organizational structure to support strategic direction. This course requires students to develop a strategic retail plan anchored on a unique fashion concept.

FASHION BRANDING
In a world where technology has democratized access for anyone to create a fashion business online, or a business that both compliment the brick-and-click ecosystem, not everyone can create an enduring, successful brand. It is with this premise that this course was created – to provide a deconstructed window in building a brand that can face disruptions, dovetail to realistic work-streams, self-actualization of its full potential and monetized. After this course, its students should be able to gain confidence in understanding their business vis-à-vis their brand –the distinction, the consequence, the relationship - and the many work-streams that impact the consistent stewardship of the brand, in the course of its evolution as living idea.

For ONLINE MODALITY, while regular classes are conducted online, students must be on-campus for midterms and finals. However, there are special exemptions regarding on-campus participation (such as online students who reside outside the Philippines). Kindly coordinate directly with faculty regarding such special cases.
