Virtual Fashion Design: Fundamentals of Clo3D

This course covers Clo3d basics with hands-on learning. You'll master program navigation, sewing tools, and avatar customization. Learn to adjust pattern properties and add elements like zippers and buttons. Explore texture and surface design for realistic garment creation.

  • Course Guide

Navigation

  • Interface Familiarization
  • Toolbars
  • Adding Files to Library
  • Locating 2D, 3D, and split screen windows
  • Setup the Mouse

Week 2

Avatars:

  • Multiple Avatars
  • Avatars: Property Editor
  • Avatar Poses, Material Finishes, and X-Ray Joints

Week 3

Intro To Sewing and Basic Patterns:

  • Arrangement
  • Importing Patterns from Other Projects
  • Particle Distance

Simulation:

  • Simulation and Gravity
  • Sewing Demo: Segment Sewing; M to N Sewing; Free Sewing and 1 to M Sewing

Week 4

Pattern Editing:

  • Pattern Editing Tools
  • Clone as Pattern/ Clone as Internal Line

Pattern Tracing and Editing:

  • Adding an Image to Trace
  • Tracing an Image of a Pattern Using Internal Line Tool
  • Scale Using Edit Texture Tool

Darts:

  • Rotating Darts
  • Darts With and Without Intake
  • 3D Styleline Tools

Week 5

Intro to Construction Details and Notions:

  • Folds and Pleats
  • Sewing Knife Pleats and Tucks
  • Zippers
  • Buttons

Week 6

Fullness:

  • Walk Pattern Tool
  • Notch and Features
  • Refining the Pattern
  • Adding Fullness/ Slash and Spread Tool

Elastic:

  • Elastic Smocking
  • Mobilon Tape
  • Waistband

Pressure and Fill:

  • Pressure
  • Layer Clone Over/Under Features
  • Fill Tool

Week 7

Fabrics, Prints, and Patches:

  • Fabric Folder
  • Assigning Fabric
  • Fabric Properties
  • Adding Prints
  • Graphics, Patches, and Logos

Week 8

Final Clo3D Looks:

  • Create Your Final Clo3D Looks
  • All looks should reflect all the things you have learned in the course.

Course Structure: The workshop will be done via distance learning through applications like Zoom and Google classroom. It is advised that parental/adult supervision is provided to support the learning needs of students.

  • 3-Button mouse

Processor: Intel i5 to i7

For Mac: All Intel-chip macs do not have Nvidia graphics cards, so mac users cannot get the GPU-accelerated effects supported by CLO software, but simulation and rendering are supported normally.
