As the world becomes more digital, personal image becomes an important component in distinguishing oneself professionally. There is a need to understand how to improve one’s way of dressing and how to determine one’s personalized fashion expression. This course aims to provide a strong grasp of the basic principles of personal fashion styling.

Each session will discuss important aspects on how to dress oneself and ultimately, will guide participants to find their best looks.

Course Structure:

Synchronous sessions will be done via distance learning through applications like Zoom and Google classroom. For every session, a practical assignment will be given to participants to apply a particular fashion styling principle and they will be asked to present the homework in time for the following session for critique and discussion.

Feedback to students will be a key factor in ensuring that the students are properly guided in the lessons. Critique session is an opportunity for the student to raise any concerns or challenges that he/she faced while developing his/her own personal fashion style.

  • Session 1: Personal Style Review, Body Types, Color Theory Introduction, Body types, Personalities whom they can relate with, Color mixing and visual effects of color combination, Homework 1
  • Session 2: Fashion History and Evolution, Style Archetypes Feedback on Homework 1, Icons of decades, Personal fashion expression and referencing the past, Homework 2
  • Session 3: Investment Dressing, Dressing for the Occasion, Shopping Feedback on Homework 2, Idea of edited wardrobe, Where they shop, How to dress for their lifestyles, Where to find pieces, Homework 3
  • Session 4: Accessorizing, Footwear, Face shape & Eyewear Feedback on Homework 3, Proper accessorizing, Different types of shoes, Different types of face shapes and eyewear, Homework 4
  • Session 5: Fashion Referencing, Face shapes, Hair Styles, Facial Features Development Feedback on Homework 3, Proper accessorizing, Different types of shoes, Different types of face shapes and eyewear, Homework 4
  • Session 6: Study of Patterns and Prints, Developing of Point-of-View (Drawing Inspiration), Course Recap Feedback on Homework 5, Pattern combinations that work, Experimenting with basis, Patterns and historical references, Patterns and colors defining iconic designers, Amalgamate personal style with new fashion trends
