A huge impact of the democratization of information is that everybody has the ability to use digital platforms as a means to solidify one’s presence.  This one-semester Program on Fashion Styling and Image Management provides the necessary knowledge and skills to train future image consultants or personal shoppers. Aside from knowing the technical and professional skills in Styling, Make-up and Photography, the course on Personal Branding allows the student to see the importance of helping clients to achieve congruence between what they intend to say and how they appear to the outside world, and in the process, supporting the expression of the highest potential of their clientele.

 

For 2nd Semester S.Y. 2022-2023, this program will be delivered through the SoFA C.R.E.A.T.E. (Collaborative Remote Experience through Art and Transformative Education) Program.

FASHION STYLING

The main objective of this course is for the students to have an overview of the world of retail and provides them a better understanding of different functions of fashion retailing. It aims to give students a deeper understanding of the global, high-tech and ever-evolving retail industry, which plays an integral role in both national and global economies. It also a course where students can learn about the various aspects of retail operations, and the responsibilities and challenges of starting and operating a fashion retail business. This online course is an overview of retailing as part of the Buying Cycle, specifically focused on the system of distributing and showcasing fashion and complementary products and services. Students will learn how to set-up, manage and operate fashion retailing businesses by immersing them with different business functions based on the 7P’s of the retail mix: (1) Product (Merchandise and Brand Management), (2) Price (Retail Pricing), (3) Promotions (Retail Communication Mix); (4) Place (Channel Selection including Physical and Digital Distribution Points), (5) Processes (Store Operations and Back-End Support Systems), (6) People (Human Resource Management and Customer Service) and (7) Physical Evidence (Store Design, Visual Merchandising and Brand Touchpoints).  Its overarching framework is critical strategic decision-making focusing on key issues such as selection of target markets, developing sustainable comparative advantage, and building an organizational structure to support strategic direction. This course requires students to develop a strategic retail plan anchored on a unique fashion concept.

 

FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY

The purpose of the course is to provide students with information and necessary know-how suitable for work in a creative environment particularly in a fashion/editorial photo shoot.  This is accomplished by giving them insights and perspectives through lectures and hands-on activities. In this online course, students will learn the fundamentals of conceptualizing ideas for digital fashion photography, helping them develop knowledge in the proper use of lighting, composition, and story-driven photographs together with efficiently learning and understanding fashion imagery through hands-on training and instructor-led presentations. 

 

MAKE UP TECHNIQUES

The course aims to provide awareness to the students who are taking up fashion courses. Since the fashion and beauty industries are closely related, there is a need for fashion students to acquire ample understanding of what the beauty industry is all about.  The course is also  focused on the fundamentals of make-up application: from the theories to understanding how make-up products and tools work, as well as the aspects of make-up applications: how to create make-up for print, live shows, TV and film formats. 

 

PERSONAL BRANDING FOR CREATIVES

This course shall be divided into the stages/ modules as the students’ roadmap in building their Personal Brand as follows: 1) Personal Brand Vision that is rooted in their Life Purpose, Passions and Values. 2) Personal Brand Goals & Objectives as manifestations of their Personal Brand Vision. 3) Personal Brand & Industry Audit to ground goals vis-à-vis their current realities.  4) Personal Brand Strategy that will help bridge current realities to reach their goals & objectives. 5) Personal Brand Action Plan that translates their Personal Brand Strategy into actionable steps towards meeting goals. 6) Personal Brand Narrative as the backbone of how they will communicate their Personals Brand 7) Personal Brand Look Book which will serve as the visual translation of their Personal Brand. 8) Personal Band Communication Plan will be the actual implementation of their Personal Brand Narrative. 9) Personal Brand BluePrint will serve as the single document that encapsulates their Personal Brand. This course provides the theories, underpinning knowledge, and practical applications, supported by research to help create, communicate a marketable Personal Brand.
