The SHS Master Class Series opens with a collaborative and immersive workshop by Hacienda Crafts. Aimed to teach students about the importance of learning local materials’ context, sustainability and resources; how this affects its creation, design and impact in society.
Students will learn firsthand from local artisans and the founder of Hacienda crafts about grassroots livelihoods, via a journey through three amazing materials – coconut, buri and rattan. The class will include a hands-on experience where students will learn how to create a basket from a coil weaving technique which uses raffia as its main materials. All materials, and instructions for the Master Class will be included in the workshop kit.
