“I never imagined we’ll be witnessing a pandemic in our lifetime!” This is now the sentiment that we regurgitate from one conversation to the next. There is an overwhelming sense of absurdity, paranoia and confusion. The pandemic has afflicted not just the physical body, but also our mental health and society’s collective well-being. With the weight of the health and economic concerns, how much space should there be for art?
The creative process is grounded in the science behind using movement as a tool to energize the body, improve brain function and process emotions. The workshop will explore the philosophy together with the physiology of yoga and dance. Students will be guided in going over scientific journals that cover topics such as bodily impressions of emotions , healing through affirmations, movement and health, rituals in the modern world . The student will also learn to use journaling as a meditation and creation documentation tool.
